The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed safety Sebastian Castro off of the practice squad of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and signed cornerback Damarion Williams to the team's own practice squad.
Additionally, the club has placed safety Rashad Wisdom on Injured Reserve, and placed defensive tackle Jayson Jones on Practice Squad/Injured Reserve.
Castro (5-11, 203) originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Steelers in May of 2025. He spent the 2025 preseason with Pittsburgh before being one of the team's final 53-man roster cuts and re-signing to their practice squad the next day. Castro played collegiately at the University of Iowa (2019–23), where he appeared in 53 career games with 32 starts and compiled 163 tackles (14.0 for loss), 14 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, four interceptions, 2.0 sacks and one fumble recovery. Castro enjoyed his best season with the Hawkeyes in 2023, when he received third-team All-America recognition from the Associated Press and second-team All-Big Ten honors after appearing in 14 games and posting career highs in tackles (67), tackles for loss (eight), passes defensed (eight) and interceptions (three). The Oak Lawn, Illinois, native will wear No. 24 for Tampa Bay.
Williams (5-10, 183) originally entered the league as a fourth-round selection (No. 141 overall) by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in 15 career games for the Ravens, recording 22 tackles (one for loss) and two passes defensed. Following his time with Baltimore, Williams signed a futures contract with the Seattle Seahawks, spending the 2025 offseason and preseason with them before being waived on Aug. 26, 2025. He played collegiately at Highland Community College (2017–18) and the University of Houston (2018–21), appearing in 34 career games for the Cougars and amassing 163 tackles (11.0 for loss), 21 passes defensed and three interceptions. The Miami, Florida native will wear No. 28 for Tampa Bay.
