Bucs' Release Week Six Depth Chart: Jacob Parrish Takes on Expanded Role

Rookie CB Jacob Parrish played nearly every snap in the Bucs' Week Five win at Seattle as he took on a dual inside-outside assignment reminiscent of Hall of Famer Rondé Barber's career

Each week during the regular season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' communications department publishes a "Game Release" to aid the media in coverage of their upcoming game. Within that release are a number of documents regarding the player roster, including a depth chart, which lists the pecking order at every position on offense, defense and special teams.

Each game week, we will be taking a closer look at that depth chart, pointing out any changes or relevant notes from the previous game and which players saw notable action in that game. Let's start on offense. Rookies are marked with an asterisk. Players we will be discussing in depth are highlighted in bold text.

OFFENSE

WR: Chris Godwin, Sterling Shepard, Kameron Johnson

Luke Haggard made his third straight start at right guard, as he has taken over that spot since Cody Mauch landed on season-ending injured reserve. As such, the Buccaneers have now adjusted their depth chart accordingly, flipping Haggard and Elijah Klein, the latter of who mis now listed as Ben Bredeson's backup at left guard.

With Bucky Irving sidelined by foot and shoulder injuries, Rachaad White made his first start of the season against Seattle and was on the field for 80% of the offensive snaps. He produced 71yards from scrimmage, none bigger than his clock-eating 12-yard run on third-and-seven on the final drive, and scored two rushing touchdowns. Sean Tucker gave White some relief with 13snaps, and he got the ball on six of those plays.

Rookie wideout Tez Johnson saw more extended playing time for the second week in a row, with 22 offensive snaps, and turned in his best performance yet, with four catches for 59 yards. Ryan Miller actually started the game in a three-receiver package alongside Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin, but he only played nine spans and was not targeted.

Rookie cornerback Jacob Parrish took on a dual role reminiscent of Rondé Barber's playing days. Jamel Dean and fellow rookie Benjamin Morrison had been sharing time at the other outside corner spot opposite Zyon McCollum, but both Dean and Morrison were out due to injuries in Week Five. The Bucs chose to start Parrish in that spot after he had been playing in the slot the first four games, and then move him inside when they went to nickel packages. As a result, Parrish, who had played almost exactly two-thirds of the team's defensive snaps in the first month, played all but two of the 61 snaps against the Seahawks. He finished with a season-high nine tackles. In sub packages with Parrish in the slot, veteran Kindle Vildor took over outside, logging 34 snaps.

Veteran linebacker Deion Jones got a handful of snaps, eight to be precise, as the Buccaneers occasionally fielded a package with three off-ball linebackers, with Jones joining Lavonte David and SirVocea Dennis. David still played 100% of the snaps, tying for the team lead with nine tackles and adding a tackle for loss and a game-changing interception in the final minute. Dennis played 92% of the snaps.

The Bucs leaned heavily on their starting outside linebacker duo of Yaya Diaby and Haason Reddick, with those two logging 47 and 50 snaps, respectively. Their primary backups, Anthony Nelson and Chris Braswell, only drew 16 and 11 snaps, respectively. The Bucs' defense did not produce a sack on Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.

SPECIALISTS

P: Riley Dixon

PK: Chase McLaughlin

KO: Chase McLaughlin

With Tucker moving up to the number-two role in the Bucs' backfield, rookie running back Josh Williams took his spot on kickoff returns. Seeing his first regular-season NFL action, Williams returned five kickoffs for 129 yards.

For the second game in a row, Anthony Nelson played 100% of the Bucs' special teams snaps, in this case a total of 28. He turned in one tackle in kickoff coverage. Deion Jones played 15 snaps on special teams and had two tackles.
