The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and UnitedHealthcare are encouraging fans to volunteer and give back to their community through the Bucs for a Better Bay Community Challenge. The Challenge will provide a resource for fans to find volunteer opportunities in their communities, including hurricane-relief efforts, and track their volunteer hours through UnitedHealthcare's "Do Good. Live Well." VolunteerMatch tool, which can be found on the Buccaneers website. The goal for this challenge is for fans to track a combined total of 5,000 volunteer hours.

"The Buccaneers are committed to giving back and continuing to make our community a better place for all Tampa Bay residents," said Brian Ford, chief operating officer, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "Each year, our staff and players dedicate hundreds of volunteer hours with the goal of making a positive and lasting impact in our community, and we now encourage all of our fans to join us in making a difference for those that need it the most. We look forward to partnering with UnitedHealthcare through this innovative Bucs For a Better Bay Community Challenge to make an even greater impact across our region."

The Challenge will run until Dec. 18. At that time the fan with the most tracked volunteer hours will be honored as the Buccaneers/Bucs for a Better Bay Volunteer of the Year during the Dec. 31 Buccaneers home game vs. the New Orleans. Saints. The winner and his or her guest will receive tickets to the game and pre-game VIP field passes, and will be recognized during the game on BucVision, showcasing their hard work throughout the season.

"In the wake of Hurricane Irma, we believe it's now more important than ever to get engaged in service to our community," said Gregory Reidy, CEO Florida Markets, UnitedHealthcare.  "We're grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Buccaneers on the Bucs for a Better Day Challenge and encourage everyone to make a difference in our neighborhoods."

Volunteers can register for the Bucs for a Better Bay Challenge at www.buccaneers.com/volunteerchallenge, and search through a wide variety of volunteer opportunities with local nonprofits, including those providing hurricane relief. Volunteers can log their hours through the same site. Program participants are also encouraged to share their hard work on their social media channels by tagging @Buccaneers, @DoGoodLiveWell and using #BucsForABetterBay.
