- K Nick Folk**
When the Buccaneers released Roberto Aguayo following their first preseason game, all signs pointed to Folk being the team's kicker for opening day. But in Tampa Bay's second preseason game, Folk had an extra point attempt blocked – the result of a low kick – and was two-for-three on field goals, missing his only kicker further than 40 yards. Folk will be pushed by Zach Hocker, but handled all of the Buccaneers' field goal attempts against Jacksonville.

- CB Ryan Smith**
Head Coach Dirk Koetter said that Smith struggled at times during the Buccaneers' preseason opener, but got a little better when the team played their second preseason game. Koetter added that he expects Smith to continue to develop as training camp carries on. Smith has been working as one of the Buccaneers' starting corners alongside Vernon Hargreaves while Brent Grimes recovers from an injury. Practice reps against DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans will only make him better.
3. TE O.J. Howard
With training camp more than halfway finished, we're starting to get a feel for what Howard's role will be this season. Cameron Brate has still been working as the "starter" but Howard has seen plenty of action. Thus far, Brate has been better in the passing game while Howard has been the stronger blocker. Keep an eye on how many reps Howard is on the field for and what situations the Buccaneers use him in.
