3 Things to Watch at Camp, August 17

A few things to keep an eye on when the Bucs take the field for training camp on Wednesday.

1. New opponents.
For the first time this preseason, the Buccaneers will be practicing with a different team. In fact, it's the first time that the Bucs have had joint training camp practices since 2013. Wednesday's practice will be in full pads while Thursday's will be in shells. Practices are open to the public, but have reached capacity so fans are unable to show up at camp on the day of. There are a few interesting position battles set to take place, including former one between Florida State teammates Jameis Winston and Jalen Ramsey.

  1. A schedule change.**
The Buccaneers have practiced at 8:45 a.m. for the majority of camp, aside from two occasions where practice was moved up to 8:15 a.m. The Jaguars are on somewhat of a different schedule, but it's not too different. They hold their practices from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., which is when the Bucs will take the field on Wednesday and Thursday. Tampa Bay will stay on that schedule throughout the conclusion of camp instead of moving practice back to 8:45 a.m. The team has two training camp practices scheduled for August 23rd and 24th and both are set to begin at 9:45.

3. The Florida heat.
The Buccaneers are used to extreme heat and will not get a break during Wednesday's practice in Jacksonville. The heat index is expected to reach 106 degrees, with the actual temperature hitting 91. The Bucs and Jags will likely beat the worst part of the day, but it should feel hotter than 100 degrees when practice wraps up shortly after noon.
