AP Pro32-Buccaneers Comments

NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (26)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 26) - Josh Freeman is man on mission.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 25) - Until Josh Freeman shows more consistency, it's difficult to rate them any higher.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 22) - Josh Freeman looking to get back on track after disappointing 2011.

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 23) - Injury to Davin Joseph inside hurts run game and protection scheme.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 28) - Greg Schiano's no nonsense approach has rubbed off on players, and that discipline will help on field. What'll help even more is if Josh Freeman starts throwing touchdowns again.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 27) - Bad news for QB Josh Freeman - Bucs must play `12 season without best blocker when G David Joseph went on injured reserve (knee).

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 27) - I'll be honest: I don't know which Josh Freeman shows up.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 25) - Rookie RB Doug Martin and WR Vincent Jackson will play prominent roles for offense that looks promising on paper.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 27) - Bucs might be more of a rebuild than I thought. I still believe in Josh Freeman, but his pass protection took major hit when they lost Davin Joseph. Defense still young up front and will take time.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 26) - Like Bucs' talent, especially with additions of Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks that will help QB Josh Freeman rebound. Schiano impressed in preseason as he is relentless taskmaster.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 27) - Appear headed in right direction under new coach Greg Schiano, but will need time before being legitimate playoff contender.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 22) - Will go as far as Josh Freeman takes them. Questions remain whether or not he can recapture his 2010 form.
