Browns coach not ready to name starting QB

Browns-Quarterbacks

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Browns coach Rob Chudzinski isn't ready to name his starting quarterback for the regular season.

Chudzinski continued to put pressure on Brandon Weeden - Cleveland's presumed starter - by saying Tuesday that he hadn't yet decided on who will be behind center against Miami on Sept. 8. Chudzinski also said the competition between Weeden and veteran backup Jason Campbell is ``close.''

Weeden, who has taken every snap of training camp with the starters, took the news in stride. He knows he must continue to impress Cleveland's new front office, which didn't draft him.

He completed 10 of 13 passes for 112 yards last week in a preseason win over St. Louis.

I have to show these guys I can play and be the man,'' Weeden said. It's another obstacle I have to overcome.''
