T Kenyatta Walker signed a five-year contract with the Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed T Kenyatta Walker to a five-year contract. The Buccaneers have now signed all of their nine 2001 draft picks.

"Every year your number one objective from a signing standpoint is to ensure that your rookies are signed and ready to go on the first day of training camp," said Buccaneers General Manager Rich McKay. "Given our plan for Kenyatta this year, that goal took on higher importance."

Walker, who was selected by the Buccaneers in the first round with the 14th overall pick, earned first-team All-America honors last season at Florida. Walker, who bypassed his senior season to enter the NFL Draft, was also named the recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the Southeastern Conference's top offensive lineman.

He was the first offensive lineman selected by Tampa Bay in the first round since T Charles McRae in 1991 and enters training camp as the projected starter at left tackle.

Tampa Bay reports to training camp at the University of Tampa this Sunday, July 29, with the first practice scheduled for Monday morning, July 30. The Buccaneers open their preseason schedule on Monday, August 13 at 8 p.m. against the Miami Dolphins at Raymond James Stadium.
