Buccaneers Training Camp Player Availability - Wednesday, August 7, 2019

Defensive Lineman Ndamukong Suh

(On how beneficial Friday's game will be for the new defense)

"I think it's always good getting live action and having the ability to go against any team other than yourself. One, because it gets a little bit redundant, and guys get tired of looking at the same faces. I think it'll be actually good when we come back after Friday to go against Miami. [We'll] be able to see a different type of defense and be challenged and see other athletes and how they've progressed throughout camp."

(On how he thinks he'll be used in the Todd Bowles' defense)

"I think you hit it on the head in being able to be versatile. I think our [most] interchangeable group that we have is the defensive line. We can play many different positions. I've done it in years past and always pride myself on being able to do that. So, wherever Coach [Todd] Bowles needs me, that's kind of where I am at – and being able to execute and do different things. We have a fair amount of different groupings. So, it just kind of depends on what grouping we're particularly going against and really what the offense wants to put out."

(On the upcoming joint practices with the Miami Dolphins next week)

"I'm excited about it – to get after the quarterback, get after the running backs, see old faces [and] old teammates. [It'll be nice to] be able to hang out with them and see how well they're playing and progressing in their careers. I've always enjoyed joint practices. I think this will probably be my fourth or fifth one in the league, so it's always a fun time especially when they're traveling to us."

(On his thoughts on the offensive line)

"Our own particular guys work hard. They're coached very very well. So as long as they stay with their commitments and their focus of what they need to get done on their side of the ball, [they will be good]. It's always a challenge. I enjoy going against Ali [Marpet] and [Alex] Cappa. So, I think there's excitement in them being able to continue to be very strong and play at a high level.

(On what he's seen from OLB Noah Spence at camp)

"[He's] very athletic, can get after the pass rusher, [and] communicates really well. We're on the same side at times. It just kind of depends on what defense we're in. I like him a lot. We actually sit next to each other in the meeting room, so we communicate quite a bit."

Wide Receiver Mike Evans

(On how he rates the receiving group's abilities)

"It's definitely up there with the best. We have a lot of guys that can make plays that are pass catchers. That's good. Rank them? They're up there. We will have to do well, but I think we're right up there with last year. Because some of the same guys - BP (Breshad Perriman) is going to take the top off just like DeSean [Jackson] did. And then we've got a lot of really good rookies. So, we'll have to see who makes it out of those rookies, but it's a really good rookie class we have at the receiver position."

(On who impresses him from the deep group of receivers)

"I mean, all of them. I can't really point out one guy. Maybe Scotty [Miller], his speed – I didn't know he is that fast. He's really, really fast. But all of them have been making really good plays. I'm excited to see what they're going to do in these preseason games. We're a pretty tight-knit group. I like the rookies a lot. They're just working, putting in work and making plays and doing what Coach [Arians] asks them."

(On what he's seen from QB Jameis Winston this year)

"I feel like he gets better and better every year. I know he gets hurt sometimes – the past couple of seasons he's been hurt. This year he's looking really really, good in practice. He's taking the coaching very well. One thing I like about Jameis is that he always tries to make adjustments. So, if we get something in practice or in the game that he doesn't like, we'll try to hit it in practice. If I'm running a route a certain way, he'll try to get that with me in practice or if he sees something, he'll try to correct it in film. So, I like the way that he tries to make adjustments."

(On the opportunities created in Coach Arians' offense)

"It's a little bit of both. He's been putting me in positions that - I've always played like everywhere, but now I'm going to be hidden a little bit more. I'm going to be on the island as the extra receiver, one-on-one a lot, but I'm going to be hidden sometimes where defense can't key on me. In the red zone, we have a lot of really good routes in the red zone that I like, so hopefully in the red zone, I'll be a big target this year."

(On what he's seen from CB Vernon Hargreaves III so far at camp)

"A healthy Vern is a really good Vern. Vernon Hargreaves is a really good corner – real smart and savvy. He switches it up on you a lot. He'll switch inside, leverage inside, leverage outside, and just switch it up a lot. He's very savvy, [and he's got] really good ball skills. He's having a really good camp."
