HEAD COACH TODD BOWLES
(On how practice went at a remote location)
"Practice was good. It isolates us kind of like old school [training] camp when you get away for a little while. The plays were fine. We'll be in pads tomorrow, so today was kind of fast...The rain held off for us, so it was pretty good."
(On if practicing away from home breaks up the monotony of training camp and the preseason)
"At times, when the situation presents itself. It gives the guys a chance to bond. It still builds chemistry and culture that way and you can get some work done at the same time."
(On if wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan carried the momentum of their good game performances into Wednesday's practice
"They did. They came out strong. They did some good blocking. They only had a few chances to catch; they both caught their balls. They were only in there for maybe 10 plays, I want to say, but they'll play more this week. But they did a good job last week."
(On the performance of QB Teddy Bridgewater in practice on Wednesday)
"He knows how to run an offense. He definitely knows how to run an offense. The timing is coming with the receivers, so we look forward to him play a little more."
(On the chatter back and forth between the offense and defense)
"Well, we're out of pads, so everybody can talk trash. That's an everyday thing. If we're quiet, then that's a problem."
(On if QB Teddy Bridgewater will play in Saturday's game against the Steelers)
"I'll tell you after tomorrow's practice. I want to see how much work he can get in."
(On newly-signed rookie CB JayVian Farr)
"For not knowing what he was doing, he did a very good job. He was running around and moving. I just said, 'Don't let the ball go over your head,' and he did that."
(On S Antoine Winfield Jr. not practicing)
"He's got a lower leg injury. He's a little sore."
(On rookie NT Desmond Watson)
"Nothing to add until he's out there."
(On if he will be looking at any position groups in particular in Thursday's joint practice with the Steelers)
"All of them."
(On rookie DL Elijah Roberts)
"He's getting a lot better in his run technique with fundamentals, bringing his hands with his legs and vice versa. We think he's a very good pass rusher, but you can tell by the week he's getting better and better and more comfortable. So, we just look for him to keep growing."
WIDE RECEIVER JALEN MCMILLAN
(On practicing in a cooler climate than the one in Tampa)
"Oh, definitely. Definitely. It feels…actually, it's not a switch-up. It's hot, it's humid, we're all wet, so…"
(On the wide receiver corps preparing for the week in Pittsburgh and an away game)
"It's been cool, it's been chill. Definitely not relaxed, but we're just finding ways to adapt to schedules and the weather. [We are] just getting ready for the season."
(On if it's important to break up the monotony of training camp by going to a different place to practice)
"I think it's very important to rep stuff like that. Away games during the season are very pivotal for us and that's when we have to capitalize on things, so [we're] just getting used to traveling together and just doing things outside of the box."
(On the competition and chatter between the pass catchers and the defensive backs)
"[It's] a lot of just getting better, a lot of asking questions – 'What we're y'all doing on this? What leverage were you here?' Just building off things with each other and learning about movements and how we can get better getting open."
(On how it is different going against the Steelers' defense in practice as opposed to a game)
"I don't think it's any different. I think we've all got to come out and treat it like a game-like situation. That's the only way you're going to put yourself in certain moments to where you can actually do it in a game. I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited to go against all those guys. They're all pros and it's going to be fun."
(On the type of challenge that Steelers CB Jalen Ramsey presents)
"All-pro. [He's] long, physical…[I have] a lot of respect [for him]. I can't wait to go against him. It's going to be fun."
(On QB Teddy Bridgewater)
"[He is a] great dude – a real vet. He has a lot of knowledge of the game. He's a really calm guy. I'm excited to be around him and just learn from him."
(On rookie WR Garrett Greene making the transition from quarterback)
"I love the ball in his hands; he can move. But yeah, just seeing how somebody can go from quarterback to receiver and make it look easy is pretty cool. He's a great athlete."
(On if he had any interaction with Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin during the 2024 pre-draft process)
"Yeah, I had a formal meeting with them."
(On what it will be like to see Tomlin during Thursday's joint practice)
"He's a great coach, great dude. Obviously, I'll say, 'What's up?' but I'm here to focus on my craft. Respect to both sides."
(On the strides the offense has made during training camp)
"I think we're just really knowledgeable of the playbook, we're really knowledgeable of defenses. And we're just getting better every day off beating man [coverage]. We're learning how to run great routes just even greater."
