Analysis: Bucs' 53-Man Roster (Offense)

A closer look at the Bucs' offense following Saturday's roster moves.

QUARTERBACK

On the roster: Jameis Winston and Mike Glennon
Not on the roster: Seth Lobato
Breakdown:
No surprises here with Winston and Glennon both earning spots on the final roster. Even though Lobato was waived, he could still be in a Buccaneer uniform this season. In 2014, the Bucs kept a third quarterback on their practice squad roster. Lobato is eligible and the team may do something similar. The first-year pro completed six of 11 passes in the preseason.

RUNNING BACK

On the roster: Doug Martin, Charles Sims, Bobby Rainey, Mike James, Jorvorskie Lane
Not on the roster: N/A

Breakdown: The Bucs parted ways with two running backs, Joey Iosefa and Dominique Brown, when the team trimmed its roster to 75 players last week. The five running backs remaining all landed on the 53-man roster following Saturday's cuts. Although Jorvorskie Lane was used sparingly in the preseason, the Bucs decided to retain a true fullback, as opposed to moving a tight end as a lead blocker in certain situations.

WIDE RECEIVER

On the roster: Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, Louis Murphy, Russell Shepard, Adam Humphries, Rannell Hall
Not on the roster: Kenny Bell (IR), Kaelin Clay, Robert Herron, Donteea Dye, Tavarres King

Breakdown: Two receivers selected in the draft will not be on the field this season after the Bucs' moves on Saturday. Fifth-round pick Kenny Bell was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring while Kaelin Clay was waived. Filling into the fifth and sixth spots are undrafted rookies Adam Humphries and Rannell Hall. Humphries, who made the Bucs' training camp roster as a tryout player, had a standout performance in the Bucs' final preseason game against the Dolphins.

TIGHT END

On the roster: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Luke Stocker, Brandon Myers, Cameron Brate
Not on the roster: N/A

Breakdown: All four players who were in camp earned a spot on the 53-man roster and all four bring different things to the team. Seferian-Jennkins has established himself as the team's starter, while Stockers' blocking abilities and Myers' pass-catching skills helped them earn a roster spot.

OFFENSIVE LINE

On the roster: Demar Dotson, Logan Mankins, Evan Smith, Ali Marpet, Donovan Smith, Reid Fragel, Gosder Cherilus, Kevin Pamphile, Kadeem Edwards, Jeremiah Warren
Not on the roster: Edawn Coughman, Garrett Gilkey, Patrick Omameh

Breakdown: Gilkey, who has served as the Bucs' backup right guard and occasionally center, was waived/ injured following an injury he sustained in the team's final preseason game on Thursday. Following the injury, Warren remained as the Bucs' only backup center behind Smith. Despite benefitting largely from the numbers game, Warren help solidify his spot on the final roster with an impressive performance in the preseason and in training camp.
