Buccaneers Fall to Saints in Week 16

Recapping the Buccaneers' Week 16 matchup with the Saints.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 8-7 after dropping to the Saints, 31-24, in New Orleans on Saturday. It was the Buccaneers' second game against their division foe in three weeks after the Bucs knocked off the Saints in Week 14.

Tampa Bay went into halftime trailing, 13-7. The Saints added a touchdown at the start of the third quarter to extend their lead to 20-7, but the Buccaneers responded with a touchdown of their own minutes later. The Saints and Bucs exchanged another pair of touchdowns in the third to send New Orleans leading, 28-21, into the final quarter of the game. The Saints added a field goal in the fourth to win, 31-24.

A spot in the playoffs is still possible, but the Buccaneers will need help down the stretch.

Jameis Winston completed 23 of 35 passes for 277 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Jacquizz Rodgers got the start at running back and carried the ball 15 times for 73 yards and a score. Mike Evans led the team in receptions, catching seven passes for 97 yards and a score.

Kwon Alexander led the team in tackles with 10 while Brent Grimes finished the game with eight. Lavonte David had seven tackles, a tackle for a loss, a quarterback hit and a sack.
