The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed defensive back Will Brooks and placed safety J.J. Roberts on Injured Reserve.
Brooks (6-1, 206) was a tryout participant in the club's rookie minicamp in May. He played collegiately at the University of Tennessee (2020-24), appearing in 49 career games with 14 starts and compiling 82 tackles (5.0 for loss), six passes defensed, five interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and one forced fumble. Joining the team as a walk-on, Brooks' best season came in 2024 when he started 13 games for the Volunteers and posted career highs in tackles (59), passes defensed (five), interceptions (four), tackles for loss (4.0) and forced fumbles (one), while leading the SEC in interception return yardage (152). Brooks briefly spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the 2025 offseason.
