Rachaad White: Offensive Engine in 2025

With an injury-ravaged roster in 2025, running back Rachaad White has been a consistent force, spurring the offense through the club’s 5-1 stretch

Rachaad White follow up Oct.16

Running back Rachaad White has played an integral role in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense in 2025, showcasing his multi-faceted skillset. In Week Six against the 49ers, White contributed a season-high 86 yards from scrimmage in the form of 17 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown, while adding three receptions for 21 yards. With his touchdown, White surpassed Cadillac Williams for the sixth-most and tied Errict Rhett for the fifth-most touchdowns from scrimmage by a running back in franchise history. He charged through the A-gap on a two-yard rush to give Tampa Bay a 7-0 lead.

In addition, White surpassed Leonard Fournette for the fifth-most receptions by a running back/fullback in team history. He elevated the screen game with his upside as a pass-catcher against San Francisco and fought his way for yardage on runs to spur the ground attack. With Bucky Irving sidelined, White has seen an increase in snaps and has taken advantage.

"I think he's still a lead back," said Head Coach Todd Bowles. "We still see him as a lead back. We just have two of them now. He's matured. Obviously, he's played a couple of years now. He does his job. He's very professional. He's a great teammate in the locker room and a great team player. He understands how to play the game. He knows how to play the game very well and we count on him a lot."

Since 2023, White is No. 3 in receiving touchdowns (nine), No. 3 in yards after catch (1,253), No. 5 in receiving yards (1,027) and No. 5 in receptions (130) among NFL running backs. He is one of four players with 10-plus rushing touchdowns and 10-plus receiving touchdowns since 2022, joining Christian McCaffrey, De'Von Achane and Deebo Samuel Jr.

White is not only a viable option for Baker Mayfield on checkdowns, but he can run a route tree out of the slot. He is patient in letting his blocks develop and has run with more power behind his pads in 2025, pushing the pile forward. White possesses balance when jump-cutting through contact and he plays with stellar body control as a receiving threat. He is a willing blocker, keeping Mayfield upright in the pocket versus blitzers and free rushers. With a roster decimated by injuries, notably on the offensive side of the ball to both the offensive line and skill players, White has been a bright spot for Tampa Bay in 2025.
