Remembering John McKay

Former players and associates share their thoughts on the late Buccaneers Head Coach, who often brightened the game with his sharp sense of humor

John McKay, head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1976-84 and father of current Buccaneers General Manager Rich McKay, died on Sunday, June 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. The cause of death was kidney failure due to complications from diabetes.

McKay is survived most immediately by his wife, Corky, and their four children, Rich, John, Michele and Terri, but he left a far wider impact on the people he met through the game of football.
