Ronde Barber's combination of interceptions, sacks and well-timed big plays make him an intriguing choice for the Bucs' All-Time Team
It is a commodity that ranks not too far behind the franchise quarterback and the sack-happy defensive end: the shutdown cornerback. Virtually every great defense has one, often two.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a franchise history marked by great defenses, first in the late '70s, then again at the turn of the millennium. As we select the All-Time Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team - as we pick and choose from among the most outstanding of all the standouts in team annals – we are sure to construct a marvelous defense. And that 'D' would not be complete without two great cornerbacks.
There is a nice selection of cornerbacks to choose from in Buccaneer history…and you're going to do the choosing. On your right, you'll see a poll for the first position in our selection of the All-Time Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team (vote for two). Below, brief descriptions of the Buc exploits of each nominated player may help you with your selections.
Your vote will be tabulated with the rest, and the results will be stored for future release. In the case of the cornerbacks, the top two vote-getters will earn spots on the all-time team. Once you've had a chance to vote at each position, the entire team of the Greatest Bucs Ever will be unveiled prior to training camp 2004.
All-Time Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team: Nominated Cornerbacks
The nominations are presented in alphabetical order. Cornerbacks are judged specifically for their work at that position, and not for any kick return or other special teams exploits, or for any extended periods at safety.
