Ken Dilger is the latest in line at a tight end position that has been well-filled through most of the team's history
Last week, Buccaneers.com voters determined which two players would fill the defensive end positions on the All-Time Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team. Though we are not at liberty to reveal the winners yet – the entire team will be announced this summer – it's safe to say those two men will be a handful for any set of blockers.
In other words, we'd better get a good tight end on the squad, so the All-Time quarterback isn't killed in practice.
And that's your task this week. In the fourth installment of our ongoing series, we now ask Buccaneer fans to choose the greatest tight end in franchise history. He will join the two defensive ends, two cornerbacks and one center that have already been chosen by a vote of visitors to Buccaneers.com. The greatest tight end in Buccaneer history will likely be an outstanding blocker as well as a productive pass-catcher, that perfect mix that every team searches for at the position.
Fortunately, there have been a long line of outstanding tight ends to wear the Buccaneer uniform. Six of the top 25 players on Tampa Bay's all-time receptions chart are tight ends, as are two of the top 13 scorers in franchise annals.
We have nominated eight players for consideration as the top tight end in Buccaneer history. After you are reminded of each man's qualifications, vote for one in the poll on the right. To view the positions that have already been covered, visit the All-Time Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team page.
