Week Six Expert Picks: Buccaneers vs. Falcons

The Bucs again assume the underdog role as they take on their second division opponent on the road this season.

Well, this hardly seems fair. The 1-4 Falcons are still heavily favored to win over the 2-2 Buccaneers except in the case of Fox Sports' win percentage calculation. The spread is -3, so it'll be close and the over under has been set at 57.5. No, that's not a typo. And not totally out of the realm of possibility.

The Bucs and Falcons rank sixth and ninth, respectively, in average points scored this season. Though the Falcons rank 13th in total offense, they're still putting up nearly 400 yards per game. Compared to the Bucs' 432.8 yards per game average, it could easily mean an offensive shootout between two very familiar teams. The offensive weaponry on either side is impressive. Quarterback Jameis Winston will be making his first start of the year and have the Bucs' receiving corps at his disposal. On the other side, Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan has the use not only of the notorious Julio Jones, but rookie Calvin Ridley has burst onto the scene in dramatic fashion, scoring six receiving touchdowns so far this season which is good for most in the entire league.

The experts are going with the latter group of offensive firepower to prevail. A division opponent on the road is never easy but the straight up unanimous consensus on ESPN in favor of the Falcons still kind of stings. Ever the underdog, the Bucs will be going into Mercedes-Benz Stadium this Sunday with rested legs and chipped shoulders following their bye week.
