Voting for the 2017 Pro Bowl in Orlando is open until next week (fans are able to submit their ballots here until then). With the annual all-star game approaching, Jameis Winston was asked which of his teammates he believed should earn the honor this year.
"I can just say my whole offensive line, because they deserve to be in the Pro Bowl the way they've been protecting me," Winston said. "But if Cam Brate and Mike Evans aren't on your Pro Bowl ballots then you've got something wrong. Is Cam still leading the league for touchdown catches (among tight ends)? Yeah – Cam definitely has to be on your Pro Bowl ballot. That would be good for him. I think he would really enjoy it."
Both Brate and Evans are logical suggestions to make this year's Pro Bowl. Brate leads all NFL tight ends in touchdown catches while Evans has the second-most scores among wide receivers. While it's unlikely that the Buccaneers' entire offensive line makes the Pro Bowl, guard Ali Marpet has drawn rave reviews as of late. NFL Media's Peter Schrager went as far as saying that Marpet was playing at the level of an All-Pro.
Winston spoke only for his players on the offensive side of the ball. Several defensive players could find themselves in the mix, including Gerald McCoy, who leads all defensive tackles with seven sacks.
If Evans and Brate are playing in the Pro Bowl, it wouldn't be surprising to see them catching passes from their quarterback. Winston was selected to the Pro Bowl after his rookie season and is on pace to throw for more than 4,000 yards this season.
In addition to voting online, fans are able to cast their Pro Bowl ballots through social media. Fans are encouraged to vote on Twitter by posting a player's full name or Twitter handle with the hashtag #ProBowlVote. Votes from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter will all be tallied up and the winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 20th. The game is set to take place on Sunday, January 29th at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
Bucs QB Jameis Winston hosted his second annual Famous Jameis Jamboree, presented by Bill Currie Ford, at One Buccaneer Place Tuesday.
