The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed cornerback Brandon Johnson to the practice squad. Johnson fills the roster spot vacated when the Pittsburgh Steelers signed cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting to their active roster earlier this week.
Johnson (5-10, 185) originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2025. He spent the majority of his rookie season on Philadelphia's practice squad before appearing in three games, with one start, recording three tackles and one pass defensed. He played collegiately at the University of Oregon (2024) and Duke University (2021-23), appearing in 50 career games and totaling 173 tackles (20.5 for loss), 16 passes defensed, 8.0 sacks and three interceptions. In his lone season at Oregon, Johnson appeared in all 14 games and recorded 45 tackles (4.5 for loss), six passes defensed and one interception, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition. The Newton, North Carolina, native will wear No. 28 for Tampa Bay.
