The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today signed first-round pick Calijah Kancey (No. 19 overall) and third-round pick Yaya Diaby (No. 82 overall). In total, the Buccaneers have signed seven of their eight draft selections.
Kancey (6-1, 280) played in 37 games at the University of Pittsburgh (2019-22) and recorded 92 tackles (34.5 for loss), 16.0 sacks, three passes defensed and one forced fumble. During his senior season, he totaled 31 tackles (14.5 for loss) and 7.5 total sacks. He was Pittsburgh's first unanimous All-American since 2013 and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, becoming only the second player in Pittsburgh history to earn the ACC's top defensive honor. During his junior season (2021), he was voted first team All-ACC and recorded 35 tackles (13 for loss), 7.0 sacks and one forced fumble. He is a native of Miami, and wears No. 94 for Tampa Bay.
Diaby (6-4, 270) spent his last three seasons at the University of Louisville (2020-22) after starting his college career at Georgia Military College (2018-19). At Louisville, he played in 34 games and recorded 94 tackles (19.5 tackles for loss), 10.5 sacks (64 yards), two passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. During his senior season, he started all 13 games and finished with 37 tackles (14.5 for loss), 9.0 sacks, and was named third-team All-ACC. At Georgia Military College, he totaled 77 tackles (20 for loss), 7.0 sacks, and one forced fumble. Diaby was rated as the No. 3 strongside defensive end nationally, No. 2 in Georgia by 247Sports, and the No. 21 junior college player nationally before transferring to Louisville. He is a native of Atlanta, and wears No. 0 for Tampa Bay.
