In the Preseason Week One clash at Raymond James Stadium, the Buccaneers beat the visiting Titans, 29-7. Tampa Bay finished with 348 total yards of offense with Kyle Trask leading the unit in the first half and Connor Bazelak in the second. The defense nabbed three interceptions, including a pick-six by Roman Parodie with under two minutes in regulation.
In the first half, Kyle Trask completed 12-of-16 attempts for 129 yards and a 98.2 quarterback rating. His go-to target, Ryan Miller, posted five receptions for 63 yards and running back Sean Tucker punctuated a 17-play, 80-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run. Chase McLaughlin hit a pair of field goals, from 45 and 23 yards out to provide Tampa Bay with a 13-7 advantage going into the half.
Defensively, rookie Jacob Parrish became the star of the show with blanket coverage, nabbing two key pass breakups on second down. He showcased his balanced footwork and change-of-direction skills. In the third quarter, Nick Jackson nabbed a sack on Brandon Allen for a loss of eight and an interception at the Tennessee 40-yard line after John Bullock tipped Allen's pass at the line of scrimmage.
Connor Bazelak took over at quarterback in the third quarter and concluded the game having completed six of nine attempts for 48 yards as the Bucs took a run-heavy approach with Owen Wright and Tucker. Late in the fourth quarter, Ryan Coe hit a 36-yard field goal to make it a 16-7 ballgame. With under four minutes left in regulation, the Bucs capitalized off a Tyrek Funderburk interception with a 15-yard Wright touchdown run. His prowess on the ground set up the three-play, 30-yard drive to give Tampa Bay a 22-7 lead. At the 1:31 mark, Roman Parodie ignited the crowd with a 39-yard interception return for a touchdown.
