PFF: Evans, Grimes Bucs' Top Performers

Pro Football Focus has WR Mike Evans and CB Brent Grimes graded as the Bucs' best players through five weeks.

By the eye test, it's clear that wide receiver Mike Evans and cornerback Brent Grimes are performing at a high level. Pro Football Focus, who grades every single snap for all 32 NFL teams, agrees.

Through the first five weeks of the regular season, PFF has graded Evans and Grimes as the team's top two players. Evans and Grimes earned grades of 83.3 and 82.4, respectively, becoming the only Buccaneers to earn a grade of 80 or higher.

Evans' grade places him in a tie as league's No. 8 wide receiver, according to PFF. Also receiving an 83.3 rating is Cincinnati receiver A.J. Green. Evans has 32 catches for 449 yards and four scores thus far.

Grimes, who has made the Pro Bowl each of the past three seasons, finds himself ranked in the top 20 among cornerbacks. He is the No. 17 corner in the league so far, according to PFF. He's the No. 9 corner who has played at least 300 snaps. Grimes has 17 tackles, seven passes defensed and one interception through five games.

After Evans and Grimes, PFF has defensive tackle Gerald McCoy graded as the Bucs' next-best player, followed by offensive tackle Demar Dotson and guard Ali Marpet.
