As far as the numbers are concerned, Jameis Winston's rookie season was one of the best in NFL history. Winston threw for 4,042 yards, which were the third-most ever by a rookie, and scored 28 combined touchdowns, which were also the third-most by a first-year quarterback. Additionally, Winston's total passing yards were the second-most by a Buccaneer in franchise history. For his efforts, he was selected to play in the Pro Bowl.
Of Winston's 28 touchdowns, 22 were passing and six were rushing. Five of those 22 passing scores came in the Buccaneers' 45-17 victory over the Eagles on November 22nd. Winston completed 19 of 29 passes for 246 yards to help Tampa Bay to victory.
Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times happened to be at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday and stumbled across one of Winston's jerseys, which is hanging to celebrate his performance against the Eagles. The slide accompanying the jersey reads, "Winston has terrific rookie season."
