The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will begin and end their 2025 preseason slate at home, welcoming the Tennessee Titans to town in the opener and finishing with a visit from the Buffalo Bills. In between, the Buccaneers will make their lone preseason road trip to Pittsburgh in Week Two.
Dates and times for all three of those games have not yet been announced but they will all be broadcast locally by WFLA-TV.
The NFL shortened the preseason to three games in 2021 when it added a 17th contest to the regular season schedule. The AFC and NFC alternate years in which their teams get nine home games during the regular season, and this year it is the AFC with the extra home date. That means all NFC teams get two of their three preseason games at home.
Here is Tampa Bay's 2025 preseason lineup, with the exact dates and times to be added later:
Week | Day | Date | Opponent | Time | Network |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Week 1 | TBD | TBD | TENNESSEE | TBD | WFLA-TV |
Week 2 | TBD | TBD | at Pittsburgh | TBD | WFLA-TV |
Week 3 | TBD | TBD | BUFFALO | TBD | WFLA-TV |
The Buccaneers could get a look at some interesting quarterback situations during their all-AFC preseason this summer. Cam Ward, the first-overall pick in this year's draft, is likely to see his first NFL game action when the Titans visit in Week One. The Steelers are widely expected to sign veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers at some point in the offseason, meaning Rodgers could get his preseason tune-up in Pittsburgh in Week Two when the Buccaneers visit. Meanwhile, the Bills featured perennial MVP candidate Josh Allen under center, though they might be more inclined to look at such backup options as Mitchell Trubisky and Mike White in the preseason finale.
It has become customary for the Buccaneers to match up with only AFC opponents in the preseason, something they will now do for the fifth straight season. In that span, they will have played at least one game against 10 of the AFC's 16 teams. The last time Tampa Bay played in an NFC opponent in the preseason was in 2019, when their fourth and final game was at Dallas. There were no preseason games in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
That said, this will mark Buffalo's first August game ever in Tampa. The Bucs and Bills have only met four times previously in the preseason, two in Buffalo and two at neutral sites. They most recently got together for a preseason clash in Western New York in 2014, which the visiting Bucs won, 27-14. So far, the two teams have split their four preseason meetings. The Buccaneers also play the Bills in Buffalo in Week 11 of the regular season; this is the first time since 2014 that the Bucs will face the same team in both the preseason and regular season. That season, Tmapa Bay lost a home game to Washington in August but won a road game at FedEx Field in November.
The Buccaneers and Titans have a deeper preseason history, having met on 12 previous occasions, with Tampa Bay holding a 7-5 edge. That includes six games when the Titans were still known as the Oilers, including four that took place in Houston.
The Bucs will try to record their first preseason win in Pittsburgh after two previous losses, including a 30-28 decision in 2019 that was Bruce Arians' first game at the team's helm. Overall, the Buccaneers and Steelers have met six previous times in the preseason, most recently a 27-17 Pittsburgh win at Raymond James Stadium in 2023. The Steelers own a 4-2 edge in the series overall.
