A training camp roster is always a fluid thing, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made another move to theirs on Sunday morning as the third day of practice began.
To bolster the team's linebacking corps and add another candidate for special teams work, the Buccaneers signed second-year man Nate Triplett, who has spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers over the past two seasons. Triplett joined the team in time to take the field for Sunday's workout, which is the first practice of 2012 to feature pads and live hitting.
Triplett (6-3, 247) originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2010, making the short move over from the University of Minnesota, where he recorded 105 tackles, two interceptions and five passes defensed in his senior campaign.
The 167th player chosen overall in the 2010 draft, Triplett was a special teams standout throughout his Gopher career. He went to training camp with the Vikings as a rookie but was released at the end of the preseason and eventually joined the San Diego Chargers' practice squad. Later in his rookie season, Triplett was signed by the Colts to their active roster, and he remained with Indianapolis through October of last season.
Overall, Triplett has seen action in eight NFL games, plus one postseason contest. He has played primarily on special teams, contributing six kick-coverage tackles.
