The Tampa Bay Buccaneers open up their 2025 preseason slate on Saturday with a game against the visiting Tennessee Titans. It is anticipated that the majority of the Buccaneers' starters will watch the game from the sideline, making it a showcase for young players trying to win roster spots. Still, the NFL requires teams to release a depth chart prior to their preseason openers, even though many of the battles for spots on that chart are still being waged.
Thus, we have the Buccaneers' first official – if not exactly set in stone – depth chart of 2025, which was published on Tuesday as part of the game release distributed by the team's Communications department. The listed starters are not exactly surprising; the Buccaneers have retained every starter from the offense they were sending out at the end of the 2024 season, and eight of 11 defenders from that same crew.
No final decisions have been made regarding the starting lineup for 2025, but the new players listed in the first column on Tuesday as compared to the end of last season are inside linebacker SirVocea Dennis, outside linebacker Haason Reddick and safety Tykee Smith. Dennis spent most of his second NFL season on injured reserve but is the favorite to start next to Lavonte David after the departure of K.J. Britt in free agency. Reddick was the Bucs' most significant outside acquisition in free agency and is a new bookend for Yaya Diaby on the edges. Smith played multiple spots as a rookie in 2024, most frequently operating out of the nickel, but now he is paired with All-Pro Antoine Winfield Jr. at the back end of the defense.
