-Head Coach Bruce Arians and a number of his staffers participated in the NFL-NCAA Coaches Academy on Thursday. Arians was the keynote speaker in the event that's under the NFL's professional development curriculum. He addressed a room full of coaches selected from a rigorous application process at the annual event held in Tampa. It's meant to help up-and-coming coaches continue to hone their own philosophies and there were plenty of Arians anecdotes to go around.
-Maurice Jones-Drew of NFL.com picks Javon Kinlaw for the Bucs at No. 14. Kinlaw was an early favorite by draftniks to go to the Bucs. The pendulum swung in the offensive line direction recently but as of the last Mock Draft Roundup, things have swung back in the defensive tackle's favor. The former NFL running back turned analyst is one of the latest to hop back on the Kinlaw bandwagon, suggesting the Bucs may not be able to hang onto veteran defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and would need to address the position early in the draft as a result.
-How likely are you to be surprised by the Bucs pick at No. 14? That’s the question Scott Smith asks on the Bucs website this week. Tampa Bay held the fifth overall pick last year, making the selection of linebacker Devin White out of LSU something that was far from a surprise. Now, the year before, trading down to take defensive tackle Vita Vea was much more on the surprise spectrum, with many people not familiar with Vea. I think we all know that worked out. The potential at No. 14 to make a surprise move or pick is there, so see what Scott has to say about it.
