Tez Johnson Stellar Outing Against Bills
Rookie receiver Tez Johnson ignited the offense against the Buffalo Bills in Tampa Bay's preseason finale. He recorded eight receptions on eight targets for a Bucs-best 58 yards and a touchdown. Johnson was electric with the ball in his hands and showcased his shifty feet and redirection skills to evade tacklers. He was heavily utilized in motion and whether it was a drag route off a play-action boot to sitting in zone and presenting his numbers to Kyle Trask, Johnson was effective. To conclude the second frame, Johnson caught a one-yard touchdown off Trask's floater. Johnson lined up in the bunch formation to the right, ran a quick out and Trask connected with the team's seventh-round pick. Throughout the game, Johnson showed off his yards after catch ability and moved the chains for Tampa Bay. He created a spark on offense and adds another weapon to Baker Mayfield's arsenal.
Third Annual 'Be the Ball' Event
On Sunday, August 24, The Baker and Emily Mayfield Foundation hosted its third annual 'Be the Ball' event, a tournament benefiting youth-serving organizations across the Tampa Bay community. The event at Topgolf Tampa featured 34 teams of six players that competed in an energetic tournament and the festivities brought Baker Mayfield's teammates, sponsors, and community supporters together for an afternoon of fun and meaningful impact. Head Coach Todd Bowles, Jamel Dean, Graham Barton, Emeka Egbuka, Tristan Wirfs, Bucky Irving, Tez Johnson and Ben Bredeson came out to show their support. The Mayfields have partnered with the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County to help provide children with increased access to early learning experiences regardless of a family's income or life circumstances.
"We like to immerse ourselves in the community and dive right in but I think we feel that love from the very beginning and we continue to feel that support," said Baker Mayfield. "Just seeing the faces here - former Bucs guys, current Bucs guys, you have staff here, you have hockey players and some other people that are going to show up that will be a nice surprise - that is the kind of love you feel and appreciate a lot. So, for us to be able to have that support and give back to the community as a whole, it is our Tampa Bay."
