Ridgewood High School Head Coach Chris Taylor was honored as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers High School Football Coach of the Week on Wednesday, September 20 at the new Buccaneers training facility. Coach Taylor is in his second year as head coach of the Rams, and he has led his team to victories over three of their first four opponents to start this season.

Taylor has held various coaching positions at Ridgewood since 2001, including assistant varsity football coach, varsity boys weightlifting coach, varsity track and field coach and junior varsity head football coach. Last season, the Rams won only one game, but Taylor has led a significant turnaround to open the 2006 season.

"This means a lot to our program and to our school," Taylor said. "I have to give the credit to our student-athletes who are on the football field playing every Friday night, who are going through practice and working hard and are meeting the expectations we're setting as a coaching staff."

Taylor was presented with a framed Coach of the Week certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, General Manager Bruce Allen and Head Coach Jon Gruden. He also received a football autographed by Gruden and a Coach of the Week cap. A $1,000 donation from NFL Charities will be awarded to the Ridgewood football program.
