After a slow half, the Buccaneers head into halftime trailing the Redskins, 3-0, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

With the regular season a little more than a week away, both teams decided to rest the majority of their starters. The Buccaneers held Jameis Winston, Gerald McCoy and Mike Evans out, in addition to 33 other players. The Redskins employed a similar tactic.

Ryan Griffin was unable to suit up as he continues to recover from an injury, so Ryan Fitzpatrick got the start at quarterback. Sefo Liufau is the only other Buccaneer quarterback active. Fitzpatrick finished the first half completing two of seven passes for six yards. Nate Sudfeld got the start at quarterback for Washington and has completed 14 of 19 passes for 131 yards.

Peyton Barber started the game at running back with Jacquizz Rodgers and Doug Martin sitting the game out. He has carried the ball six times for 23 yards. Jeremy McNichols entered the game at the end of the first half, as did Luifau.

Rookie linebacker Kendell Beckwith leads the team in tackles with five and also has a sack. Defensive end George Johnson had an impressive half as well.

Washington got on the board first when Dustin Hopkins drilled a 53-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Buccaneers will receive to start the second half.
