New League Year and Free Agency Opens Now

The new league year and free agency have officially opened, allowing players to sign with teams

FA Period New League Year

The two-day negotiating period has now concluded and the 2026 new league year and free agency kick off at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11. Players can officially sign with new teams following the timestamp. Many of the contract negotiations made between certified agents and clubs during the March 9-11 window have already been announced on various outlets but the contracts are officially inked after 4. As veterans disperse, altering mock drafts, the page shifts to the 2026 NFL Draft.

The 91st edition of the draft will be held in Pittsburgh for the first time since 1948. Prospects will be selected over a three-day span featuring seven rounds from April 23-25 at Point State Park and Acrisure Stadium. The Buccaneers own the 15th overall selection in the first round and beginning in 2026, the time between first-round selections has been shortened from ten to eight minutes – the first change since 2008, when the allotted timeframe shifted from 15 minutes to 10. Rounds 2-7 will stay the same as previous years.
