Skule is back in session in Tampa.

On Monday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of veteran offensive tackle Justin Skule, who previously played for the team from 2022-24. Skule spent the 2025 season with the Minnesota Vikings, appearing in 16 games and making nine starts.

Skule initially signed with the Buccaneers' practice squad in September of 2022 and spent most of the season on that unit, appearing in one late-season contest after being elevated for game day. However, he made the active roster in 2023 and played in all 34 games over the next two seasons, serving as a swing tackle and making five starts in 2024.

Four of Skule's five starts in 2024 came at right tackle while Luke Goedeke was sidelined by an injury. His fifth start came in place of Tristan Wirfs at left tackle in Week 11 in a 30-7 win over the New York Giants. After signing with the Vikings as an unrestricted free agent last March, Skule proved to be a valuable addition, making starts at both left and right tackle and playing career-high 578 snaps on offense. He filled in for an injured Christian Darrisaw for the first two weeks of the season and five of the last six weeks, and saw two midseason starts in place of Brian O'Neill at right tackle.

Skule first entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers out of Vanderbilt in 2019. He made the active roster as a rookie and appeared in 15 game with eight starts. He also played in all three of San Francisco's playoff contests as the 49ers advanced to Super Bowl LIV. Skule appeared in all 16 contests in 2020, with four starts, but suffered a torn ACL during a June practice in 2021 and spent that season on injured reserve. He returned for training camp with the 49ers in 2022 but was waived during the final roster cuts before landing with the Buccaneers a few weeks later.

The addition of Skule helps solidify what should be a very strong tackle group for the Buccaneers in 2026. Goedeke and All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs return to anchor the line and are backed up by both Skule and second-year man Benjamin Chukwuma, a pleasant surprise as an undrafted free agent in 2025.
