The right side of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive line will have a much different look going forward, as both guard Cody Mauch and tackle Luke Goedeke were placed on injured reserve on Thursday. Both players must miss a minimum of four games before returning to the action roster, though Mauch's knee injury will reportedly knock him out for the remainder of the season.
To fill the resulting open roster spots and restore depth to the offensive line, the Buccaneers signed Luke Haggard off their own practice squad and Dan Feeney off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad. After Haggard's promotion, the Bucs re-signed guard Sua Opeta to their practice squad.
Mauch suffered the injury in the Buccaneers' Monday night win in Houston but stayed in the game and eventually played every offensive snap, including the final two-yard touchdown run by Rachaad White that went over right guard. Mauch has started every game at right guard for the Buccaneers since being drafted in the second round in 2023 and has only missed five offensive snaps in that span.
Goedeke first suffered a foot injury in the Bucs' Week One win at Atlanta but was able to start the Houston contest before aggravating the injury 13 snaps into the game. Veteran Charlie Heck finished the game at right tackle and is expected to man that position in Goedeke's absence. A second-round pick in 2022, 33 of the Bucs' last 37 games at right tackle, missing four contests in 2024 due to a concussion.
Haggard is certainly familiar with the Bucs' system, having spent two full seasons on the team's practice squad after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He also started the 2025 campaign on that squad but will now get his first regular-season NFL action, potentially starting in Mauch's place at right guard. Feeney brings significant experience to the Bucs' offensive line room, having played in 120 regular season games with 65 starts. He has started at both guard and center was a starter for three full seasons (2018-20) for the Los Angeles Chargers. He has also spent time with the Jets, Bears and Vikings.
Haggard and Feeney share an alma mater, as both played at Indiana, though not at the same time. Feeney entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2017.
Opeta originally signed with the Buccaneers during the 2024 offseason but suffered a season-ending knee injury early in training camp that sent him to injured reserve. He then re-signed with the Buccaneers this past offseason and went to training camp with the team but was released during the final roster cutdown in late August
