There was no mystery regarding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' inactive list on Sunday for their Week Five game against the Seattle Seahawks, given that they had to name five players inactive and that was the exact number that the team ruled out on its Friday injury report. Still, it's obviously significant that Tampa Bay will be heading into a battle of 3-1 first-place teams without its top wide receiver and its top running back, with both Mike Evans (hamstring) and Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) sidelined by injuries.
The other area of concern for the Buccaneers is at cornerback, where both Jamel Dean (hip) and rookie Benjamin Morrison (hamstring) are unavailable. Dean and Morrison had been splitting time at one of the outside cornerback spots opposite Zyon McCollum. McCollum is active for Sunday's game even though he is dealing with a thumb injury.
The Buccaneers and Seahawks submitted their list of inactives at 2:35 p.m. ET on Sunday, 90 minutes before the scheduled kickoff of their Week Five meeting at Lumen Field in Seattle. The Buccaneers did not elect to elevate any players from their practice squad for the game and thus had to name five inactives to get down to the game-day limit of 48. The Seahawks elevated safety Jerrick Reed and nose tackle Brandon Pili from their practice squad for the game, meaning they had to name seven players inactive.
The Seahawks will also be without two of their starters in the secondary, as both cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and safety Julian Love (hamstring) are unable to participate due to injuries. Starting defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence (quad) is also unavailable, but rookie S Nick Emmanwori has been cleared to play.
