Benjamin Morrison arrived at the AdventHealth Training Center on Monday with the rest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rookies, but he had one extra bit of business to complete that the others did not. Morrison signed his initial NFL contract on Monday, a standard four-year deal that all players drafted in Rounds Two through Seven receive.
With that taken care of, the Buccaneers now have all six of their 2025 draft picks signed and all 91 players on the roster under contract for the start of training camp. Veteran players will report on Tuesday and the first practice of training camp is set for Wednesday morning.
Morrison was one of the 30 unsigned players from the second round of the draft when last week began, but a flurry of deals has taken place in recent days as teams report for training camp. Prior to the break in action that followed the team's minicamp in June, the Buccaneers had already signed first-round wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, third-round cornerback Jacob Parrish, fourth-round outside linebacker David Walker, fifth-round defensive lineman Elijah Roberts and seventh-round wide receiver Tez Johnson.
Morrison was the 53rd player selected overall in this year's draft. The cornerback out of Notre Dame missed the second half of his final collegiate season due to hip surgery but had positioned himself as one of the nation's top prospects at his position in the previous two years. Over the 2022 and 2023 seasons he recorded nine interceptions and 23 passes defensed. He has excelled in both zone and press-man coverage and could compete for playing time early in his rookie season. Morrison was limited during the Buccaneers' offseason program as he completed his recovery but is expected to be fully ready to go at the start of camp.
