Tampa Bay Buccaneers' quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily Mayfield, announced the launch of the "Walk-On Scholarship" presented by the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation to be given to walk-on student athletes.
The Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation will award two $10,000 scholarships to currently enrolled sophomores, juniors, seniors or graduate students who are active walk-on student athletes at their respective universities.
"My experience as a walk-on student athlete shaped who I am today," said Baker Mayfield. "Emily and I wanted to find a way to support future walk-ons to reach their goals and full potential. The hard work and dedication these athletes put in every day and the belief they have in themselves got them this far. I hope this scholarship can help them reach even greater heights in and out of sports, by relieving some of the financial pressure of college."
Mayfield became the first ever walk-on to win the Heisman Trophy (2017) and the first former walk-on to be selected as the number-one overall pick in an NFL Draft (2018). He set a new standard and shattered numerous parameters. Eligible recipients must meet the following requirements to apply:
(College sophomores, juniors, and seniors)
- Must be a citizen or legal resident of the Unites States
- Must be a rostered athlete on a varsity team, confirmed by their coach
- Must be receiving $5,000 or less in athletic aid
- Must be maintaining the academic eligibility requirements of the university and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress
The scholarship deadline is June 15. There will be two, $10,000 awards given, which are renewable for up to three additional years so long as the awardee remains enrolled at the same university and maintains the academic eligibility requirements of their university.

Bucs Draft Buzz
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received a favorable 2025 draft evaluation from news outlets including CBS Sports, NBC Sports and Bleacher Report. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Bucs had six selections: Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (19), cornerback Benjamin Morrison (53), cornerback Jacob Parrish (84), outside linebacker David Walker (121), defensive lineman Elijah Roberts (157) and receiver Tez Johnson (235).
The Bucs' brass has a successful history of hitting on draft selections, with notable contributions from recent classes. Across the last 10 seasons, the Bucs have ranked in the top-10 in cumulative EPA by rookie classes. Under General Manager Jason Licht, the Bucs are No.1 in the NFL with 1,873 games started and 132,091 snaps played from their own players drafted between the first through fifth rounds (2014-2024). All 38 of Licht's draft selections first-sixth rounds from 2019-2024 are on an NFL roster. That hit rate has resulted in four-straight NFC South titles.
