The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost for the first time in 2025 in Week Four, falling 31-25 to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and they also lost a handful of defensive players to injury during the contest. At least, one, safety Rashad Wisdom, is heading to injured reserve due to a quad injury sustained in the game.

To fill the resulting roster spot and the new hole in their secondary, the Buccaneers signed rookie safety Sebastian Castro off the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad. In addition, the team placed practice squad defensive lineman Jayson Jones on injured reserve and signed former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Damarion Williams to the practice squad.

Wisdom and Jones are the fifth and sixth players to be added to Tampa Bay's injured reserve list over the last 14 days. The Buccaneers have nine players on injured reserve now, at least five of which have incurred season-ending injuries.

Wisdom played in two of the Buccaneers' first four games, contributing three tackles on special teams. His activity to this point has been limited to special teams but he had nine tackles and a pass defensed on defense during the preseason. A UTSA product, Wisdom signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and spent his entire rookie season on the practice squad before making the active roster this year.

Castro was signed by the Steelers as an undrafted rookie out of Iowa this past May. He went to training camp with Pittsburgh but was waived in roster cutdown to 53 and then signed to the Steelers' practice squad. At Iowa, Castro appeared in 54 games with 33 starts and amassed 163 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, five forced fumbles, four interceptions and 18 passes defensed. He was a third-team All-American selection in 2023 and a third-team All-Big 10 choice in 2024.

The Buccaneers signed Jones to their practice squad in late August after he had been waived by the Ravens in their final cutdown. He had originally joined Baltimore as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn, where he played three seasons after beginning his collegiate career at Oregon for one year. In his tenure with the Tigers, Jones recorded 84 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed.

Williams, who was selected by Baltimore in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, has previously seen regular season NFL action with the Ravens in 2022 and 2023, as he played in 15 games and recorded 24 tackles, one tackle for loss and two passes defensed. In 2024 he had stints on the practice squads in Baltimore and Seattle, and he went to camp with the Seahawks this summer before being waived during final roster cuts.
